More About M. Alex Ramirez

M. Alex Ramirez is a Colombian saxophonist, composer, producer, and educator based in New York City. His ideals on music focus on creating honest representations of his emotions whilst building a community that fosters innovation within the group and audience.

M. Alex Ramirez was awarded a full tuition scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music where he spent his formative years studying under some of the most influential musicians in the jazz industry including George Garzone, Terrence Blanchard, Ed Tomassi, Shannon LeClaire and Dave Santoro.

During his time at Berklee, M. Alex Ramirez performed with the flagship ensemble, the Berklee Concert Jazz Orchestra, where they toured around the New England area. While in the orchestra, Ramirez performed with notable artists including Gary Burton, Mike Gibbs, Bill Frisell, Terrence Blanchard, Paquito D’Rivera, Kurt Elling and Sean Jones.

After graduating, Ramirez accepted a graduate scholarship to attend NYU Steinhardt. While at NYU, Ramirez studied under even more notable musicians that are currently dominating the jazz scene in the US such as Alex Sipiagin, Ed Neumeister, Rich Shemaria, Chris Potter, Rich Perry, and Billy Drewes.
